Sustainability is at the heart of what we do, influencing every stage of the design and building process.

We believe there is no single approach to sustainable building, but instead a spectrum of methods ranging from highly modern systems focused on insulation and ventilation to more traditional approaches using breathable wall constructions and locally sourced natural materials. Understanding how different materials perform and interact is central to creating buildings that are both environmentally responsible and tailored to the priorities of each client.

We have experience working on buildings at both ends of this spectrum as well as many in between and we want to work with you to build a structure that will suit your lifestyle and the surrounding environment.

We are happy to help explain the various trade-offs and pros and cons of the different material options available to help choose a material palette that works for the building as well as fit in with your values.

Consideration is given not only to the visual and structural qualities of materials, but also to their embodied energy, production processes, carbon footprint, longevity, and long-term performance. Timber is valued as a renewable and natural material that sequesters carbon throughout its lifetime while avoiding many of the harmful chemicals associated with synthetic alternatives. We carefully consider thermal performance, weather resistance, durability, and the lifespan of every material used, prioritising solutions that will create buildings capable of enduring for generations with minimal environmental impact.

Based in Herefordshire, we work closely with a trusted network of local craftspeople, suppliers, and specialists to source quality materials and combine traditional skills with modern developments.

Wherever possible, the company prioritises materials from local and responsible producers to reduce the carbon footprint of each project and support regional industries. When restoring older buildings, great care is taken to preserve, restore, and reuse as much of the original material as possible, maintaining the integrity and history of the structure while reducing waste.
